My Childhood and Its Cast of Characters Set the Stage for a Life of Great Stories

Many of my stories revolve around me being the rare bird in my 70+ person traditional Catholic family; rare in that I am the only gay person. I also write a lot about my parents and siblings—fondly referred to as The Happy Half Dozen. ‘Happy Half Dozen’ is the CB handle my dad created for talking to truck drivers during our summer road trips from Kansas City to Colorado and Texas when my siblings and I were little kids.

Jenée’s Creative Evolution

Happy Half Dozen (my family)

I am learning how to make things move in an otherwise immovable world.

I am studying and writing about how to shift culture, bridge divides, and make actionable the things that so many of us know but don’t know how to put into practice.

I write and talk alongside people who have a road paved before them and can easily access audiences that I would be unable to access otherwise. I cannot take all the credit for the good I do in the world. It takes more than me.

I am paving my path in the wilderness. I am different because of this work. I am seemingly whom I was born to be—finally. You’re likely meeting me for the first time, even if you’ve met me a thousand times before.

I’m Jenée Antoinette Francis (no, that’s not a typo—and, no, I’m not changing my gender) Arthur. Nice to finally meet you.
